Launched in May 2020 by approximately 130 black professionals, Purpose Black is a new initiative aimed at economically tackling some of the most significant challenges faced by Black people worldwide. The initiative’s first model is gearing up for its Ethiopian debut. We strongly believe that this new approach presents an excellent opportunity for Ethiopia and Africa to lead a substantial global effort that promises to benefit millions of Africans.

The multi-billion Birr Purpose Black Ethiopia initiative encompasses a mega-agro-processing complex, an e-commerce marketplace, five hypermarkets, ten large supermarkets, and a network of over a thousand retail and distribution stores across Ethiopia.

Position 1: Journalist

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in journalism or content creation, particularly within the real estate sector.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines.
  • Familiarity with current real estate industry trends and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Researching and writing articles on real estate trends, market analysis, and property listings
  • Conducting interviews with industry experts, real estate professionals, and clients
  • Creating engaging multimedia content including videos, podcasts, and social media posts
  • Contributing to the development and execution of content strategy

Position 2: Experienced video editor

Requirements:

  • Proficient in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar tools
  • Demonstrated experience in video editing
  • Strong understanding of visual storytelling and editing techniques
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • A keen eye for detail and a passion for creating compelling visual content

Key Responsibilities:

  • Edit and enhance video content for real estate listings, market trends, and industry segments
  • Collaborate with the content team to develop creative concepts and storytelling techniques
  • Incorporate music, graphics, and effects to deliver high-quality video productions
  • Ensure consistency in branding and style across all video assets

Position 3: Credit Collector & Marketer

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in credit collection and marketing roles.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven track record of meeting targets and deadlines.
  • Age between 25 and 45 years.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate the collection process for outstanding debts and delinquent accounts.
  • Conduct thorough research to identify potential customers for targeted marketing campaigns.
  • Develop and implement innovative marketing strategies to promote our credit products and services.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers to ensure timely and successful collection of payments.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling marketing materials and campaigns.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends to identify opportunities for expanding our credit services.
  • Provide regular reports on collection activities and marketing performance to senior management.

Position 4: Office Engineer

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field
  • Age between 25-35 years
  • Proficient in project management software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

The Office Engineer will be responsible for supporting project managers and field engineers in the planning, coordination, and execution of civil engineering projects.  This role will involve a mix of office-based duties such as preparing reports, analyzing data, and project documentation, as well as occasional field work to monitor project progress and ensure compliance with engineering specifications. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
