The U.S. Mission, including the Center for Disease Control in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, is currently seeking applications from qualified candidates for the position of Immigrant Visa Assistant.

Position: Immigrant Visa Assistant

Qualifications and Evaluations:

EXPERIENCE: Minimum two years of experience involving the application of regulations and law, extensive public contact, customer service, and/or problem-solving experience is required.

Education: Completion of high school is required.

LANGUAGE:

• English speaking, reading and writing – Level 3 (Good Working Language) is required. (These may be tested)
• Amharic speaking, reading and writing – Level 4 (Fluent) is required (These may be tested)
• Tigrigna or Oromifa  speaking, reading and writing – Level 3 (Good Working Language) as an optional. (These may be tested)

(You are required to pass the English Placement Test (EPT) that is conducted by the Human Resources Office).

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel is essential, along with a fundamental understanding of PowerPoint. The ability to work with precision and speed is crucial. Candidates must be capable of working under continuous pressure and meeting deadlines, as well as engaging with the public in a diplomatic and effective manner. Strong interpersonal skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to operate both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision are required. Proficiency in composing written communications in both the local language and English is necessary. One must also be able to exercise sound judgment in evaluating evidence, protecting confidential information, and applying laws correctly.

Salary: USD $11,281 – USD $11,281 /Per Year
