Job Vacancy by Première Urgence Internationale in Ethiopia

About Premier Urgency International

Première Urgence Internationale (PUI) is an international aid organization that is non-governmental, non-profit, non-political, and non-religious. Our teams are dedicated to supporting civilians who are victims of marginalization and exclusion, or those affected by natural disasters, wars, and economic collapses, by addressing their fundamental needs. Our goal is to provide emergency relief to displaced individuals to help them restore their dignity and achieve self-sufficiency.

PUI operates in 10 areas of intervention and is distinguished by its integrated approach to response. This strategy is designed to identify and understand the needs of everyone impacted by a crisis. Our teams unite to deliver a swift, comprehensive response to the basic needs of populations affected by humanitarian crises, aiding them in regaining independence and dignity.

PUI’s Presence in Ethiopia:

While PUI has not been specifically operational in Ethiopia, the organization has had a longstanding presence in the East African region, especially in Sudan and South Sudan.

In response to the conflict in northern Ethiopia that began in 2020, and the reports of recurring drought affecting the lives and livelihoods of millions across various regions of Ethiopia, PUI resolved to contribute to addressing the humanitarian needs resulting from both manmade and natural disasters. Consequently, PUI registered with the FDRE Authority for Civil Society Organization (ACSO) on June 22, 2022, which allows the organization to legally operate within the country. Since registration, PUI has conducted needs assessments in different regions to identify gaps and determine where to focus efforts for the greatest impact. Based on these assessments, PUI has chosen to initiate its first project in the Afar and Benishangul Gumuze regions, where the effects of the recent conflict and ongoing drought have severely impacted the local population.

PUI is also actively seeking additional partners to respond to more.
